New SSC Anti-Spam Procedure Effective October 15th
Dear Faculty and Staff,
The divisional email system is becoming saturated with spam and our current method of dealing with it is no longer sustainable. We will now offer a choice of three options to our clients. The new options will be implemented on October 15th.
The preferred option is that all email detected as spam by the Barracuda spam detection device will automatically be bounced backed to the sender and you will not be notified that you received spam. This is OPTION 1 -- you need take no action for this option to be implemented.
We have found that this method is over 99.99% accurate. Any senders of mail erroneously classified as spam will be provided with detailed instructions on how to correct this situation.
If you prefer that none of your mail, including spam, is blocked and all email is allowed to flow to your account for you to deal with spam locally, that will be OPTION 2. Simply go to the website below to choose this option.
Finally, Option 3 will be to establish a Barracuda account which will send you a daily report about the spam you are receiving and you must log into the account within a week in order to review whatever spam has accumulated, and perform your own search for legitimate emails. If you already use a Barracuda account, you still must renew it by choosing option 3.
